The Oasis

116 S Main St, Monroe, NC 28112
(704) 289-3633

I was out today and smelled this wonderful aroma coming from this sandwich shop so I decided to try it out. It's pretty crowded so I decide to wait outside at the table right by the door. I waited about 10 minutes and they motioned me in when my order was ready and let me tell you this, they have some good bbq. Now here in NC there is a heated debate over eastern and western style bbq and it hasn't ended. I myself find that I like both and this place serves eastern style. I might add it's quite good. The price isn't that bad either, I mean a sandwich drink and chips for a little over 10 bucks isn't bad. I do have one major complaint though. If you're in a wheelchair, you can't even get in this place. There is no ramp. Now I know this place is in an old part of town but that doesn't matter. Everybody should be able to enter this place but sadly they cannot. I guess they just don't want your money if you are in a wheelchair. It's too bad really because I know plenty of people that would gladly visit this place but they can't. All in all it is a good eatery it just needs a ramp.

Zhong's Chinese Food

1849 Dickerson Blvd.
Monroe, NC 28110
(704) 296 - 0188

Ok, so I wanted some chinese food and I found this little place in Monroe. Don't let appearances affect your ability on deciding where to eat too much. It is small, but the food is delicious. I ordered some sesame chicken, egg roll, fried rice and a sweet tea. I take my seat and wait about 15 minutes. It's not because they're slow, they cook it up as you order. That's another great thing about this place. You always know the food is hot instead of sitting under a heat lamp all day. (I'm looking at you fast food.) The guy brings my plate and let me tell you now that you better come here hungry because the portions are huge. I had chinese that day for lunch and supper. Delicious both times I might add. The best thing about their sesame chicken is that they don't overpower the sauce with a sweet flavor. It's a perfect blend of sweet and sesame. The bottom line is if you're in Monroe and you want some Chinese food, this is the place to go to. You won't regret it.
